Level 1 — Refresher Peel A light, surface-level peel using AHAs or enzymes to gently exfoliate and brighten the skin. Perfect for first-time clients, sensitive skin, or anyone looking for a refresh with little to no downtime. Expect: smoother texture, brighter tone, and improved product absorption.
Level 2 — Corrective Peel A medium-light peel using acids like glycolic or salicylic acid to target acne, congestion, uneven tone, and early signs of aging. This level works deeper within the skin to accelerate cell turnover and refine overall texture. Expect: visible flaking for 2–5 days as the skin renews.

It depends on the level. A Level 1 peel typically involves no visible peeling — skin may feel slightly smoother and look a little brighter within a day or two with no flaking at all. A Level 2 peel brings 2–5 days of light-to-moderate flaking, usually beginning around day 2 or 3. A Level 3 peel involves more significant shedding over 7–14 days — skin will visibly peel, particularly around the mouth and jawline where it tends to be most pronounced. For Level 3, plan your social calendar accordingly.
Chemical peels are not appropriate for clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, are currently using or have recently used Accutane (wait at least 6 months), have an active cold sore, open wound, or infection in the treatment area, have used strong exfoliating acids or retinoids in the days leading up to the appointment, have a known allergy to salicylates (relevant for salicylic acid peels), or have a history of abnormal scarring. Susie screens for all contraindications during the required consultation for Level 3 peels and during the intake process for Levels 1 and 2.
For Level 1, results are visible almost immediately — skin looks cleaner, brighter, and more refined within a few days. For Level 2, the most noticeable improvement emerges once the flaking is complete, typically around days 5–7. For Level 3, full results take longer to appreciate — the skin goes through an active healing phase, and the final outcome becomes clear once the shedding is complete and new skin has settled, usually around the 2–3 week mark. Pigmentation corrections from a Level 3 peel continue to improve for up to 6 weeks.
A single Level 1 peel delivers a noticeable refresh but is best thought of as part of a regular maintenance rhythm — once a month or once a season depending on your skin goals. Level 2 peels typically deliver meaningful corrective results in a series of 3, spaced 3–4 weeks apart. Level 3 peels are more intensive — one session can produce significant change, but 2–3 sessions spaced 6–8 weeks apart are often recommended for stubborn pigmentation or scarring.
